Mangaluru: Temperature in the coastal city will spike up, up to 3-4 degree Celsius in next one week as coastal Karnataka prepares to enter the summers from March.

According to a satellite based online weather predictor ‘Accuweather.com’ the temperature in the city will witness a rise of up to 4 degree Celsius in the temperature during next week (Feb 9-15). The predictor further predicts the rise in temperature but adds that it will not have much of impact on the humidity as the latter is expected to remain low, for at least 10 days from now.

According to the Meteorological department, last couple of months in coastal Karnataka has been ‘people friendly’. An official of the Karnataka Meteorological Department while speaking to Varthabharati said “Last couple of months in Coastal belt has been good; January especially was ‘pleasant’”.

The official also confirmed the temperature rise in coming weeks but suggested that the temperature will rise up to 3 degree Celsius as per the official data as against that of ‘Accuweather.com’.

In the previous week, the temperature of the city mostly loomed into early 30s and spiked as high as 32 degree maximum and remained around 23-24 degrees during the nights (minimum temperature).

However, in the next week, the temperatures during the day will reach up to 35-36 degrees and will also record lows of 21 degrees during nights, thereby balancing the humidity of the temperature.

Meteorological Department officials further informed that the full-fledged summer with maximum temperature humidity in coastal belt is expected from March first week.

Meanwhile, the neighboring district Udupi will see more rise in temperatures compatively in the next week, as the temperatures there are predicted to rise up to 5 degrees, from current 32 degrees to 37 degrees in the coming week.

Thane (PTI): Authorities have seized illegally stored 1,839 gas cylinders and seven vehicles worth over Rs 67 lakh in the Dombivli MIDC area of Thane district, officials said on Saturday.

A special vigilance team of the Mumbai Rationing Department detected an illegal storage of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in Phase-2 of Dombivli (East).

Cylinders belonging to multiple gas agencies were found stockpiled in closed vehicles, unauthorised warehouses, and open sheds without mandatory permissions from the Explosives Department, Fire Department, or oil companies, according to an official release.
