Bantwal: Three arrested for attacking former Gram Panchayath member, his wife with swords
Bantwal: Local police on Friday evening arrested three people who assaulted Gram Panchayath member Yogish Prabhu and his wife Shobha in the wee hours of Friday. The duo were attacked with swords by a group of three unidentified men at around 4:00 am on Friday. Yogish is also a member of Congress.
The police in the evening arrested Prasad Belchada, Sripathi Acharya and Karthik Acharya in connection with the case. The trio was arrested from Mangaluru.
The investigation into the matter is being led by Bantwal Circle Police Inspector T D Nagaraj along with PSI Prasanna and his team. The arrests were made in less than 24 hours after the crime was committed.
The police is further investigating the matter.

Yogish Goudar murder case: Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni, 16 others sentenced to life imprisonment

Bengaluru: A special court for people’s representatives has sentenced Congress MLA Vinay Kulkarni and 16 others to life imprisonment in connection with the murder of BJP leader Yogish Goudar.
The verdict was delivered by judge Santhosh Gajanana Bhat. The court had earlier, on Wednesday, held all 17 accused guilty of murdering Goudar, while reserving the quantum of punishment.
On Friday, the court pronounced the sentence, awarding life imprisonment to all the convicted persons in the case.
Yogish Goudar, a BJP member from the Hebballi Zilla Panchayat constituency in Dharwad district, was murdered in 2016.
