Bus overturns on NH-66 near Udupi; Several passengers sustain minor injuries
Udupi (PTI): Several passengers sustained minor injuries after a private express bus overturned near the Polipu Mosque on National Highway 66, police said on Tuesday.
The accident occurred when the bus was on the way to Mangaluru from Udupi on Monday afternoon, after the driver reportedly lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle, they said.
According to preliminary investigation, the accident was attributed to over-speeding and alleged negligence on the part of the driver.
"Several passengers sustained minor injuries, though no major casualties were reported," a senior police officer said.
Local police from Kapu station inspected the site, police said, adding further investigation is underway.

Illegally stored gas cylinders seized
Thane (PTI): Authorities have seized illegally stored 1,839 gas cylinders and seven vehicles worth over Rs 67 lakh in the Dombivli MIDC area of Thane district, officials said on Saturday.
A special vigilance team of the Mumbai Rationing Department detected an illegal storage of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in Phase-2 of Dombivli (East).
Cylinders belonging to multiple gas agencies were found stockpiled in closed vehicles, unauthorised warehouses, and open sheds without mandatory permissions from the Explosives Department, Fire Department, or oil companies, according to an official release.
