Dharmasthala: Following a clash reported earlier today in Dharmasthala, the district police have confirmed that the situation is now under control.
According to the Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police, Dr. Arun the crowd at the location has been dispersed, and the situation is peaceful now.
The SP stated that two FIRs are being registered at the Dharmasthala Police Station. One pertains to the alleged assault on a group of YouTubers and damage to two of their vehicles, reportedly by individuals supporting Dharmasthala. The same FIR also includes a complaint regarding the alleged assault on a Suvarna News reporter by individuals supporting the YouTubers.
The second FIR that is being filed involves cases of unlawful assembly at three locations, Pangala (where police had to resort to a lathi charge), within the premises of the Dharmasthala Police Station, and in front of a hospital.
The SP further informed that those injured during the incident were taken to hospital, and preliminary medical reports suggest that no grievous injuries have been sustained.
Police have begun reviewing available video footage related to the incident. Based on this verification, further legal action will be taken and additional cases may be registered if necessary, said the SP.

New Delhi (PTI): A 32-year-old barber was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly beating a man to death following an altercation over a 'bidi' in east Delhi's Pandav Nagar area, police said.
A call regarding the incident that occurred near the bus stand road in Shashi Garden was received at 1.24 am, they said.
The victim was identified as Deepak (28), while the accused was Manoj, he added.
According to the police, during an argument, the accused picked up a wooden stick lying nearby and struck the victim repeatedly on the head. Multiple injuries and bruise marks were also found on the victim's forehead.
"Deepak was taken to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead," an officer said.
An FIR has been registered and further investigation is underway, the officer added.
