Padubidri, June 17: A goods train derailed near the Nandikoor railway station on Sunday, but resumed its journey after 10 hours of operation.

The goods train with 50 coaches, was carrying rice from Mallyut in Muktsar district in Punjab to Maddur in Mandya district. It was derailed at Nandikur while joining the engines. Two coaches and an engine derailed in the incident. But no casualties were reported.

Technical staff of Mangaluru and Udupi division of Konkan Railways rushed to the spot and restored the rails. As it is a double track, the train services were not hampered because of this incident. Konkan Railway Mangaluru division PRO Sudha Krishnamurthy said that it was happened because it was the linking place of two rails.

Kolkata: A massive fire broke out in the Ultadanga area of Kolkata on Sunday morning, leaving more than 10 houses gutted. The fire reportedly started around 7:30 am.

Six fire tenders were deployed to the site to control the fire. Efforts to douse the fire are ongoing, and authorities are yet to confirm the cause of the incident.
