Kumta: In an absolute show of unity in diversity, several organisations including from both right wing and left, came together to condemn the Pulwama attack, here in Kumta on Monday.
Among the major organisations that participated in the condemnation meet and rally were, Congress, JDS, BJP, Hindu Jagarana Vedike, Kumta Jamat-ul-Muslimeen, North Kanara Muslim United Forum (NKMUF) and students of several educational institutions among others.
A solidarity march was also taken out, which marched across the major landmarks of the town, beginning from Mastikatte circle, sloganeering ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ along with anti-Pakistan slogans.
“People, irrespective of caste, creed, religion or any other differences joined the march in solidarity with the martyred soldiers, this shows that the nation is united in fight against terrorism and those who perpetrate and give shelters to them” NKMUF General Secretary, Mohsin Quazi told Vartha Bharati over phone call.
The march then headed to the Assistant Commissioner’s office where they submitted a memorandum to the President of India and the Prime Minister, condemning the attack and urging them to initiate strict action against the perpetrators.
Honnavar-Kumta BJP MLA, Dinakar Shetty, Ex-Congress MLA Sharada Shetty, Hindu Jagarana Vedike president Ganesh Bhat, North Kanara Muslim United Forum general secretary Muhammad Mohsin Quazi, Kumta Muslim Association president Muhammad Akbar Mulla, JDS leader Pradeep Naik, Ideal Education Trust president Basti Muhammad Malik Saheb, former BJP leader Suraj Naik Soni, Kumta Jamaat Ul Muslimeen president Muhammad Shafi Shaikh, Kumta Al-Ittihad Youth Committee president Iftikhar Shaikh Advocate RG Naik, Harish Shet, Sampat Kumar and others were present in the march.

Belagavi: Speaker U.T. Khader on Friday warned that members who disrupt Assembly proceedings by talking in their seats during debates will be made to sit in the House for an entire day as a disciplinary measure.
The warning came after the Question Hour, when Deputy Leader of the Opposition Arvind Bellad was permitted to initiate a discussion on the development of North Karnataka.
At this point, expelled BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal objected, stating that he had been seeking a debate for the past three days but had not been given an opportunity.

Responding to the objection, Speaker Khader said Bellad had already been granted permission and assured Yatnal that he would be allowed to speak at the next opportunity. He noted that even as a serious discussion was underway, several MLAs were speaking among themselves with their microphones on, disrupting the proceedings.
Expressing displeasure over the conduct of members, Khader likened the situation to football, where players receive red, yellow, or white cards for violations. Similarly, he said, the Assembly issues warning cards to members who disturb the House. If they fail to correct themselves despite repeated warnings, they would be required to remain seated in the Assembly hall for a full day as punishment, he stated.
