Padubidri: A large-scale protest took place in Kanchinadka on Saturday, with residents demanding the cancellation of the proposed toll station on the Padubidri-Karkala state highway.
Participants from 40 villages, including those from Padubidri, Belman, and Karkala, gathered in significant numbers, with support from various organizations. The protest saw the involvement of rickshaw, car, tempo, lorry, and bus owners, along with local traders.

Addressing the gathering, MP Kota Srinivasa Pujari stated that the Minister of the Public Works Department has already issued an order regarding the toll station, but he insisted that it should be permanently revoked.
He assured the protesters that he would personally meet the minister to find a solution for their problems.

Ranchi: Champai Soren, a prominent figure in Jharkhand’s statehood movement, is contesting the 2024 assembly elections from Seraikela, a seat he has consistently held since 1991.

His decision to switch the party could be a turning point in the BJP’s efforts to gain a stronger hold in a state where tribal votes often decide the outcome.
