The Mangalore Management Association on Wednesday conferred the MMA-KVK Outstanding Manager Award 2022 to Dr. CP Habeeb Rahman, Chairman, Unity Care & Health Services Limited, Mangalore.

The award ceremony was held at the SDM College Campus, MG Road here in the city.

Dr. M Vijayakumar, Vice Chancellor of Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) was the Chief Guest of the event. Dr. Vijayakumar conferred the award to CP Habeeb Rahman.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Vijayakumar noted that Human Resource Management was a challenging field and those who are not able to obey the orders are not able to give orders when they are elevated to managerial posts.

While congratulating Dr. Habeeb Rahman on winning the award, Dr. Vijayakumar said the running of a home is also a managerial skill and the management between a mother, father and a child also presents different dimensions of management.

After accepting the award, Dr. Habeeb Rahman called on the Mangalore Management Association to start an educational institute for leadership and management.

“I engaged myself in the field of health to provide service facilities in the field of health in the society. Prevention of disease, health promotion, disease mitigation are areas that need to be adequately managed in the medical field.” He said.

He also thanked the MMA for honoring his contribution and performance in the field. He said that our next challenge is to strive for global peace and harmony and the survival of mankind.

MMA Vice President Dr. K Janardhan introduced Dr. Habeeb Rahman while the president of the organisation K Jairaj B Rai welcomed the gathering and presided over the event.

All India Management Association Dr. Devraj and MMA Secretary Deepa Nayak P were present during the event.

Mangaluru: Renowned journalist, writer, thinker, and founder-editor of the Dalit Voice magazine, V T Rajshekar y, passed away on Wednesday morning at a private hospital in Mangaluru. He was 93. Rajshekar had been leading a retired life in Shivabhag, Mangaluru, and was reportedly unwell in recent months.

V T Rajshekar had a distinguished career spanning over two decades with The Indian Express before launching Dalit Voice in 1981 to advocate for the rights of Dalits. His writings in the magazine often sparked widespread discussions across the country. A strong proponent of reservation and Dalit rights, he was a vocal critic of Brahmanya and the Sangh Parivar.

The author of several significant works, Rajshekar received numerous national and international awards and honours during his lifetime.

He is survived by his son, Salil Shetty, who has served as the Secretary General of Amnesty International.

Rajshekar's last rites will be held on Thursday at Onthibettu in Udupi.
