Mangaluru: Heavy smoke filled at 'City Center' shopping mall when fire broke out at its fourth floor today afternoon.
The incident took place at the Food Court on the fourth floor of the City Center. Firefighters were alerted when fire was spotted at a kitchen of the Food Court. The firemen rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control. However, heavy smoke has been filled in the mall. Following which, the customers in the mall were sent outside.

Belagavi (Suvarna Vidhana Soudha): Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has announced that the state government will implement reservation quotas to encourage sportspersons, including 3% in the Forest Department, 3% in the Police Department, and 2% across various other departments.
Responding to a question raised by Congress MLC Ivan D’Souza during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council on Thursday, the Chief Minister said the state has already appointed 13 athletes who won medals in the Olympics, Paralympics, Commonwealth Games and Asian Games. In the Police Department, direct appointments have been made for 70 constables and 14 Police Sub-Inspectors, he stated.

Siddaramaiah said that the new reservation measures, 3% in the Forest Department, 3% in the Police Department and 2% in other departments, are aimed at further encouraging sportspersons. He added that the government will also study possibilities for providing greater support to the sport of Kabaddi.
