Mangaluru, Dec 21: A court here on Tuesday remanded a practising advocate, an accused in the case of sexually harassing a law student who was an intern under him, to police custody for four days.
Advocate K S N Rajesh Bhat, who was absconding for the last two months after a harassment case was registered against him on October 18, had surrendered before the judicial first class magistrate court here on Monday.
When he was produced before the court on Tuesday after a day's judicial custody, police sought seven days' custody for interrogating him. However, the judge allowed only four days in police custody.
The court did not grant the bail application of the accused on health grounds.
The case about the sexual harassment was registered at the women's police station on October 18 against the advocate, based on the complaint by the law student.

New Delhi (PTI): The CBI has arrested Shivraj Raghunath Motegaonkar who runs the Renukai Chemistry Classes (RCC) in Maharashtra's Latur city in the NEET UG paper leak case, officials said on Monday.
A leaked question paper for the medical entrance exam was found on Motengaonkar' phone mobile during searches conducted by the agency on Sunday. He was arrested after that.
The CBI has alleged that Motegaonkar was an active member of the organised gang involved in the leakage and circulation of the NEET UG paper, the officials said.
Motegaonkar in conspiracy with other accused received the question paper and answers of NEET UG Exam, 2026 ahead of April 23, 2026 exam, they said. He allegedly circulated the paper to several persons.
