Mangaluru: Mangaluru teenager, Mohammed Abdul Bashith, secured a silver medal at the National Open Water Swimming Championship 2024, organized by the Swimming Federation of India in Diu on January 7, 2024. Representing Karnataka state, Bashit participated in the 5 km swimming event.

The 17-year-old, son of Zainuddin Munna and Shamshid Shaniyath, is currently a second PUC student at Yenepoya College in Mangaluru.

Bashith's interest in swimming began at the age of eight, and since then, he has actively participated and excelled in various competitions.

Among his achievements, Abdul Bashith clinched a bronze medal at the National Swimming Championship in Malpe in January 2023. Additionally, he secured two silver medals and one bronze medal at the Dasara Championship held in Mysuru in 2023.

Mumbai: Nana Patole has stepped down as the President of the Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, days after the party faced a severe defeat in the state assembly elections.

The party’s poor performance in the elections had raised concerns about its leadership and strategy in the state.

The Congress, which contested 101 seats as part of the MVA, posted its worst-ever defeat by managing to win only 16 seats.
