Mangaluru: Amidst the pressure of controlling the spread of COVID-19 in the city limits, Mangaluru City Corporation Mayor and other senior officials visited the Thumbay Dam and took stock of the water as the summer season has hit the Coastal Karnataka.
Mayor Divakar Pandeshwar, Corporation Commissioner Shanadi Ajith Kumar Hegde, MCC Deputy Commissioner Dr. Santosh Kumar, Naresh Shenoy and other officials visited the dam on Thursday morning.
Speaking to Vartha Bharati after the visit, Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde asserted that the dam currently had storage of water at six meter level and that it will be sufficient for city’s usage for next fifty days. He added that currently water rationing was stopped and that it will not be done this summer.
He also added that despite several commercial activities not in operation due to lockdown due to the spread of coronavirus the demand for the supply of water has not been affected and that it has remain same.
Mayor Dinakar Pandeshwar also added that there will be no water scarcity in the city like the previous year wherein the administration had to resort to water rationing to supply water to the residents in the city. He added that if the monsoon arrives in time or before June, the city is unlikely to face water scarcity as there was sufficient water for city’s use in the dam currently.

Mumbai: Tata Consultancy Services on Friday said it has initiated a formal internal investigation into allegations linked to its Nashik unit and engaged independent external experts to ensure transparency in the process.
Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director K Krithivasan was quoted by The Observer Post as saying that the company has appointed Deloitte and Trilegal as independent counsel to support the probe. The internal investigation is being led by Aarthi Subramanian.
The company has constituted a supervisory committee chaired by independent director Keki Mistry, which will oversee the process. The committee will also review findings and monitor the implementation of recommendations.
Krithivasan said a preliminary review of the company’s internal systems and records had not revealed any complaints of the nature being alleged through its ethics or POSH channels.
He also clarified that an employee named in media reports, Nida Khan, was not part of the human resources function and did not hold any leadership role. He informed that she worked as a process associate.
The company has also rejected reports suggesting that operations at the Nashik facility had been suspended. It asserted that the unit continues to function without disruption with a zero-tolerance policy towards misconduct.
