Mangaluru, May 25: Pandeshwar police have arrested two persons on charges of threatening Muslim girls with dire consequences in social media if they visit malls and take food during Ramadan month.

The accused have been identified as Mohammed Sadiq (23) of kuppepadavu and Abdul Sattar (35) Kadeshivalaya. The police have booked a case against them under Section 153 (A), 505 AND 506. The accused have posted the threatening message against Muslim girls in the social media. Against this, a case was registered in the cyber crime police cell and based on this case, they were arrested.

The message in social media has received widespread resentment among people. Recently, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner has warned of action against those posting and forwarding the messages which disturb the social harmony, in social media. Close on the heels of this warning, the police have arrested two persons.

Dubai: Smoke was seen rising from an area near the United States Consulate in Dubai, according to witness accounts cited by Reuters.

There was no immediate official confirmation on the extent of damage or whether there were any casualties in the incident.

Earlier, the US embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia’s capital, was also attacked. Authorities reported damage to the premises, but no casualties were recorded.

The developments come amid heightened tensions in the region, with Iran continuing to target US interests in the Middle East following deadly attacks launched on Saturday by Israel and the United States.
