Haveri: A 10-year-old boy is reported to have died of electrocution and two others sustained serious injuries after coming contact with live wire while on their school campus in Hamsabavi of the district on Friday afternoon.

The deceased boy, Muhammad Shah Kalandar, was the son of Ghous Mohiuddin and was studying in Class 4 at the Shivayogeshwara High School in Hamsabavi. The injured are identified as his friends Chethan and Shreyas.

Kalandar was reportedly standing on the campus with his friends during lunch break when a wire that was passing through the campus broke and fell on him. The wire is also said to have come in contact with the other two boys, who were standing nearby.

Although all three children were rushed to the Haveri District Hospital, Kalandar could not be saved. Shreyas and Chethan are under treatment at the hospital and recovering, sources have said.

Davanagere: A bomb threat email received at the District Court in the city’s Devaraj Arasu area on Monday morning triggered panic and a full-scale security check of the court premises.

According to police, the threat message was received on the official email ID of the District Court at around 8.30 am. Following this, the bomb disposal squad and dog squad rushed to the spot and conducted a thorough inspection of the entire court complex.

After detailed checks, officials confirmed that no explosive materials were found and declared the threat to be a hoax.

Police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the email and identify the sender.

As a preventative measure, security has been tightened at key government offices and important buildings in the city, including the District Court complex.
