Madikeri: A youth who had been to a water falls along with his friends, died after drowning in the water falls at Mallalli in Somawarpete Taluk on Sunday.
The victim has been identified as Skanda (24), who hailed from Mysuru and was employed in a private company in Bengaluru.
After the incident locals took the body out.

Skanda, who was working a private company in Bengaluru, had gone to the water falls for picnicking along with 11 friends on weekend. Though the entry into the waters at the falls was restricted, he went into the waters for swimming ignoring the restriction. He was washed away in the current. His friends informed the staff of inspection bungalow and Pravasi Mitra staff and locals. His body was traced with the help of locals and divers, after hours of search operation. Somawarpete police who came to know the incident rushed to the spot and registered a case.
The body was later shifted to the government hospital for post-mortem and was handed over to his parents.

Mangaluru: In a major relief for last-minute shoppers ahead of Ramadan, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy on Thursday announced that shops have been granted permission to operate till 12 midnight.
He made the announcement while speaking to the media in the city.
“Many people had requested to keep shops open till midnight on Thursday. Accordingly, shops in the Mangaluru Police Commissionerate have been allowed to remain open till 12 midnight today (Thursday),” he said.
