Bengaluru, Sept 14: The three vacant posts in the Legislative Council would go for by-election on October 3. The by-election would be held for the seats which were vacant due to the resignation of Dr G. Parameshwar, K.S. Eshwarappa and V. Somanna.
Election notification was issued on September 14. As per the notification, September 22 is the last date to file nomination papers and scrutiny of the papers would be held on September 24, September 26 is the last date to withdraw the nomination papers. If needed, the voting would be held on October 3 from 9 am to 4 pm.
On the same day, counting of votes would be held at 5 pm. Legislative Assembly joint secretary M.S Kumaraswamy would be the election officer and Under Secretary B.S Mahalingesh would be the assistant election officer. Interested candidates could submit their nomination papers between September 14 and 22 at the office of the Election officer or Assistant Election Officer from 11 am to 3 pm.
Since September 16 and 21 are the general holidays, nomination papers would not be received on those days. Each candidate has to file his/her nomination papers under Form 2. The candidates belonging to SC/ST categories have to pay Rs 5,000 and general candidates Rs 10,000 as deposits along with the nomination papers.
The by-election would be conducted at Room No.106 of the Vidhana Soudha on October 3 at 9 am to 4 pm. More details could be availed from the Election Officer or Assistant Election Officer, according to a press release.
