Chikkaballapur: In a tragic incident near Kanakierlagutta, Chikkaballapur, at least two individuals lost their lives, and 22 others sustained injuries when a private bus lost control, struck a tree, and overturned, approximately 3 km away from Patapallya village.
The two deceased passengers have been identified as Ahmed Basha (34) and Talari Venkatarayappa (50) from Naremadepalli village. Among the 22 injured individuals, two passengers are reportedly in critical condition.
The accident occurred when a private service carrier named 'Venkateshwara' departed from Chelur towards its destination, Bagepally, with 45 passengers on board. According to reports, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle at the Kollavaripally turn, colliding with a tree and causing the bus to overturn.
Locals at the scene alleged that the ambulance arrived at the accident site two hours after the incident.
Officials, including Tehsildar Prashant Khanagowda Patil, DySP Shivakumar, Circle Inspector Prashant Varni, Chelur Circle Inspector Janardhan, and PSI Narasimhanaidu Harish, inspected the accident site.

Gumla (PTI): Three persons were arrested on Monday for allegedly raping two women at a village in Jharkhand’s Gumla district, police said.
All the three accused have been remanded to judicial custody, Gumla Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge, Mahendra Karmali, told PTI.
According to police, one of the women had been called to Gumla Sadar by her boyfriend on Sunday for an outing.
“She arrived at the spot accompanied by a female. The woman’s boyfriend then called a friend, and they took the two women to a secluded place in Sisai police station area in the evening, forcibly made them consume alcohol before raping them,” the officer said.
The accused later called another man to the spot, who also allegedly raped the women, he said.
“The women later reached the Sadar Police Station and lodged a complaint on Sunday night. Police conducted raids and nabbed the three accused on Monday,” he added.
Further investigation is underway.
