Bengaluru, June 18: When the SIT officials intensified the interrogation of main accused in the Gauri Lankesh murder case, Parashuram Waghmore, it came to light that the accused have formed four different teams to kill four rationalists.

The accused have systematically carried out their crime by killing four rationalists like Govind Pansare, Narendra Dabholkar, Dr MM Kalburgi and Gauri Lankesh in four separate teams. It came to light when the SIT interrogated Parashuram, it is said.

The modus operandi of all the four murders was same. But it was not yet known who provided the pistols to these accused to kill the rationalists. SIT has continued its investigation to find that person, for which investigation is being conducted even in neighbouring states, sources said.

It is suspected that one person and one organization were behind the killings of these people. But the SIT officials did not get the clue about that person. These teams were active in Karnataka and Maharashtra and plotting to kill other rationalists, sources said.

Hearing postponed

The 70th CCH Court on Monday postponed the hearing of a bail plea filed by another main accused in the case and Hindu organization head KT Naveen Kumar to June 21, sources said.

Garhwa/Hazaribag (PTI): Two persons were killed and five others injured after being allegedly run over by a truck in Jharkhand's Hazaribag district on Thursday evening, police said.

The deceased were standing near a roadside puncture repair shop in Charhi when the accident happened, they said.

The injured persons were admitted to the Sheikh Bhikhari Medical College and Hospital, they added.

"The identity of the deceased is yet to be ascertained," said a police officer.

In another accident in Garhwa, two men in their mid-20s died after being hit by a speeding tractor, police said.

The accident happened in the Mahuliya panchayat in the Garhwa police station area in the early hours, they said.

"Rahul Chaudhary (26) and Nandlal Ram (26) were standing near their motorcycle on the roadside. A speeding tractor coming from the opposite direction hit them. Rahul died on the spot, while Nandlal succumbed to the injuries while being taken to the Sadar Hospital," said a police officer.

"Immediately after the mishap, the tractor driver abandoned the vehicle and fled. The tractor has been seized, and raids are underway to apprehend the absconding driver," he said.
