HC issues notice to Siddaramaiah, wife, Lokayukta police, ED in MUDA case
Bengaluru (PTI): The Karnataka High Court on Thursday ordered serving notices to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and his wife Parvathi B M in connection with the closure report filed by the Lokayukta police in the MUDA site (plot) allotment case.
The court also sought a response from the Lokayukta police and the Enforcement Directorate on the B-Report (Closure report).
Hearing a plea filed by activist Snehamayi Krishna challenging the B-Report filed by the Lokayukta police, Justice S Sunil Dutt Yadav ordered the issue of notices.
In the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) case, allegations were made that compensatory sites were allotted to Siddaramaiah's wife in an upscale area of Mysuru, with a higher property value than the location of her land that had been acquired by MUDA.
MUDA had allotted plots to Parvathi under a 50:50 ratio scheme in lieu of 3.16 acres of her land, where it developed a residential layout.
Under the scheme, MUDA allots 50 per cent of developed land to landowners in exchange for undeveloped land acquired for residential layouts.
The Karnataka Lokayukta police, which registered the case against Siddaramaiah, his wife, and his brother-in-law, later gave them a clean chit by filing a closure report, which was admitted by the Special Court to try Public Representatives on January 28.

Karnataka govt eases age norm for class 1 admissions by 60 days
Bengaluru (PTI): The Karnataka government on Thursday announced a 60-day relaxation in the age eligibility norm for class 1 admissions for the 2026-27 academic year, following demands from parents.
Minister for School Education and Literacy Madhu Bangarappa made a statement in this regard in the Legislative Assembly.
The government’s move aims to provide relief to parents whose children fell short of the prescribed age limit, as existing rules mandate that children must be six years old by June 1 to be eligible for admission to class 1.
"There has been a demand from parents to relax the six-year age eligibility norm for admission to class 1. They have also submitted a memorandum to me," he said while announcing the decision.
Changes will be made to the admission software accordingly, he added.
Noting that there are issues regarding admissions to LKG and UKG as well, he said, "We will bring in legislation at the earliest to find a permanent solution."
The 60-day relaxation is applicable to LKG, UKG, and class 1, the minister said, adding that since LKG and UKG are not under a regulatory system, a regulatory Act or rules will be introduced by the department in the next session.
