Koppa, Sept 15: As many as 17 students and a Physical Education teacher fell ill after drinking milk at a school in Niluvagilu village in the taluk on Saturday.

Students and teacher Mohan Gowda of a government primary school at Niluvagilu near Hariharapura taluk complained of vomiting after consuming milk. Following which, they were admitted to Hariharapura and Koppa hospitals.

The incident took place at 11 am on Saturday when the cook reportedly mixed urea fertilizers in the milk instead of sugar. A case has been registered regarding this at Hariharpara police station. The police have detained the cooks Yashoda, Sharada and Gulabi. The students and the teacher have been discharged from the hospital in the evening.

MLA T.D Rajegowda, former MLA D.N Jeevaraj, ZP President Sujata, Praveen Kumar, BEO Ganapati, Tahsildar Tanuja visited the hospital and enquired the health of the students.

The school teacher's negligence along with the cooks is quite visible. I have informed the police officers to take action against the culprits. The comprehensive information on the incident will come out after a thorough investigation. Students are treated well, and parents do not need to be afraid.
