Minister Shivanand Patil resigns as MLA to take on Vijayapura MLA Yatnal from Basavana Bagevadi
Bengaluru: Minister for Textiles and APMC Development Shivanand S Patil has resigned as Basavana Bagevadi legislator and handed his resignation letter to Speaker of the Karnataka Assembly UT Khader on Friday.
The minister was recently challenged by Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal to contest against him from Basavana Bagevadi. Shivanand Patil has reportedly clarified in his resignation that he has accepted Yatnal’s challenge and has, thereby, quit the current post as representative of the constituency in the Assembly.
The minister is learned to have requested Speaker Khader to accept his resignation only if Yatnal too accepts the challenge and resigns from Vijayapura to contest against him from Basavana Bagevadi constituency.

Belagavi’s Basavaraj Kempawad tops UPSC Indian Forest Service exam
Belagavi: Basavaraj Kempawad of Belagavi district has secured the first rank in the Indian Forest Service (IFS) examination conducted by the Union Public Service Commission.
Basavaraj, a native of Savadi village in Athani taluk of Belagavi district, achieved All India Rank 1 in the prestigious examination, marking a significant accomplishment.
