Bengaluru, October 28: The city civil court has convicted an advocate for life imprisonment for killing his colleague at Karnataka High Court eight years ago.

The convicted has been identified as Rajappa. The convicted had stabbed his colleague J.S. Naveena (25) on the court premises and later he had also tried to commit suicide. The incident happened at No. 4 of the HC on July 8, 2010 at 1.45 pm. After killing Naveena, Rajappa had gone to the toilet and tried to commit suicide. But later survived after treatment.

Rajappa and Naveena from Kolar were practicing in the high court. Both of them have decided to marry. But Rajappa quarrelled with Naveena as she was close with another advocate. On July 8, Rajappa came to the court with a knife and attacked her on neck and stomach killing her on the Spot. After threatening the advocates on the spot, he ran to toilet and tried to commit suicide by consuming poison and stabbing himself. But the advocates and Vidhana Soudha police saved him.

After hearing the case, the city civil court awarded life imprisonment to Rajappa and slapped a penalty of Rs 5,000 which should be given to the parents of Naveena.

Bengaluru, Apr 18 (PTI): Punjab Kings defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by five wickets in their rain-curtailed Indian Premier League match here on Friday.

Batting first, Tim David (50 off 26 balls) struck a counter-attacking fifty to lift RCB to 95 for nine in a match that was reduced to 14 overs per side after a delayed start due to evening showers.

In reply, PBKS completed the chase in 12.1 overs with Nehal Wadhera making a brisk 33 off 19 balls. Josh Hazlewood (3/14) bowled brilliantly for RCB, but his effort was not enough.

Earlier, RCB lost wickets at regular intervals with the likes of Arshdeep Singh, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Marco Jansen doing the bulk of the damage for the visiting team.
