Bengaluru: Parliamentarian and Centre’s former Minister, Anantkumar Hegde has expressed his objections towards the BBMP’s decision to name the Padarayanapura Cross-Roads after Muslims.
In his letter to the BBMP Commissioners in this regard, Anantkumar Hegde wrote that the Padarayanapura roads were supposed to have been named after social workers as per the decisions. "But, now we see that in all the names of the referred social workers, only Muslim names are present. This is done for the appeasement of one community" he complained.
“The names of Freedom fighters, brave soldiers who fought for the country, nation’s great personalities can be used. But, I vehemently oppose against naming after the Muslims”, Hegde’s letter read.
“Once the other city councils of the state, Municipalities, the Town Panchayats start going with similar decisions, the situation can go beyond what could be predicted. This can become a pathway to ruin the communal harmony”, wrote Anantkumar Hegde.
