Davanagere: Tragedy struck in Davanagere as two students of a private college in the city allegedly took their own lives after an intimate video of them went viral on social media.
The incident unfolded when a video of the students' private moments on the college terrace, recorded two months ago by an individual from an adjacent building, surfaced on various social media platforms on Friday.
Overwhelmed by the distress caused by the video's circulation, the girl student reportedly committed suicide on Friday. Following this heartbreaking event, her male partner also took his own life late Friday night, as confirmed by the police.
Deeply concerned by the gravity of the situation, the parents of both students lodged separate complaints with the police, seeking justice and accountability for the tragic consequences of the video's dissemination.
District Superintendent of Police, Dr. K Arun, has assured the affected families and the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted into the incident. He pledged to take further appropriate actions in response to the heart-wrenching turn of events.

Thane (PTI): Authorities have seized illegally stored 1,839 gas cylinders and seven vehicles worth over Rs 67 lakh in the Dombivli MIDC area of Thane district, officials said on Saturday.
A special vigilance team of the Mumbai Rationing Department detected an illegal storage of domestic and commercial LPG cylinders in Phase-2 of Dombivli (East).
Cylinders belonging to multiple gas agencies were found stockpiled in closed vehicles, unauthorised warehouses, and open sheds without mandatory permissions from the Explosives Department, Fire Department, or oil companies, according to an official release.
