Belagavi: Two young boys drowned while swimming in the backwaters of the Hidkal reservoir near Halegudanatti village in Hukkeri taluk of the district on Monday.
The deceased have been identified as Krishna Vithala Khanapure (14) and Prajwala Gokak (14), both residents of Center village here.
According to reports, five boys had gone for a swim in the backwaters near a temple at Halegudanatti village owing to school holidays. While three of them managed to escape safely, the other two drowned.
