Raichur: A 30-year-old woman working as a programme assistant at the city’s science centre was found dead under suspicious circumstances, with her family alleging dowry harassment and murder by her husband and in-laws.
The deceased has been identified as Vidya alias Sudhiksha, a resident of IB Road in the city.
According to her family, Sudhiksha had married Manjunath three years ago. Within four months of marriage, she had reportedly informed her parents about harassment over dowry by her husband and his family.
Her father has alleged that Sudhiksha was strangled to death by her husband and mother-in-law and that the incident was later portrayed as a case of suicide.
A case has been registered at the West Police Station in Raichur. The body has been sent to RIMS Hospital for postmortem.
Family members broke down in grief outside the mortuary and demanded strict action against the accused and justice for the victim.
DySP Shantaveer and Tahsildar Parashuram visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
