Following heavy rains in Mudigere taluk limits, landslides occurred in four places on Kudremukh- Mangaluru national highway leaving the road completely covered in the mud on Sunday. As a result, the vehicular movement was suspended from morning to evening on the road.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday telephoned Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy and got all the details on the rescue operations and relief measures in rain-hit and flood-affected Kodagu district. He also assured the CM of all assistance for rescue and relief measures.

A total of 4,225 marooned people have been rescued so far in Karnataka's flood-hit Kodagu district even as incessant rains continued to hamper relief work, said an official on Sunday.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday conducted an aerial survey in flood-hit places in the district for 15 minutes.

As the rain gave respite on Sunday, Kodagu district is receiving moderate rainfall. Rescue operations picked up. Army and NDRF teams have been toiling to rescue people in the district which was battered in the rains and landslides.

The rain which gave a respite since yesterday afternoon, pouring cats and dogs in the malnad region since yesterday night. Landslides happened in three villages in Koppa taluk and people were panic.
