Belagavi: Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai on Saturday exuded confidence that the Union government would hand over 750 acres of defence land and set up a military school in Belagavi in the name of Sangolli Rayanna, who had fought against the British rulers.

Bengaluru: The declining trend in daily COVID-19 infections continued in Karnataka on Saturday with the state logging 3,202 new cases and 38 fatalities taking the aggregate and toll to 39,24,297 and 39,613 respectively, the state health department said.

The Karnataka government has extended till February 15 holidays for pre-university colleges, shut from February 9 following the raging hijab row on several campuses and was slated to open on February 14.

Karnataka on Friday evening extended holidays to the colleges affiliated to Ministry of Higher Education till February 16 as a precautionary measure amidst the Hijab row in the state.
