Bengaluru: Taking a veiled dig at the BJP, Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress chief D K Shivakumar on Thursday said the traitors who had joined hands with the British during the freedom struggle are today lecturing others about patriotism.

The event was graced by distinguished guests including Maulana Shuaib Husaini Nadwi, Head of the Value Education Department at Hira Institutions Mangaluru; Raghuveer Souterpete, former District Youth Officer NYKS; Shahul Hameed K K, President of Jamiatul Falah DK and Udupi District; Siddiq Manjeshwar, President of Blood Donors Mangaluru; and Maulana Saalim Khalifa Nadwi, Principal of Iqra Arabic School.

While many celebrated Independence Day in unique ways, AIPIF (The Message of Humanity Forum-Mangaluru), Blood Donors Mangaluru, and Jamiyathul Falah Mangaluru Taluk Unit marked the occasion by organizing a blood donation camp at Jamiyathul Falah Hall, Kankanady, Mangaluru. The event aimed to raise awareness about the spirit of sacrifice by encouraging blood donation.

Chief Justice of India, DY Chandrachud, highlighted the importance of liberty and freedom during India's 78th Independence Day celebrations.
