Justice Nanavati, ex-SC judge who probed Godhra, anti-Sikh riots, passes away at 86

Ahmedabad: Former Supreme Court judge Justice Girish Thakorlal Nanavati, who headed commissions which inquired into the 1984 anti-Sikh and 2002 post-Godhra riots, died here on Saturday.

 


Row over EC's meet: Govt says letter was for secretary or an official representative, not CEC

New Delhi: Amid a controversy over a government communication reportedly calling the Chief Election Commissioner to a meeting, the law ministry Saturday said the letter was meant for a secretary of the poll panel or a representative of the CEC, and the subsequent virtual interaction with the CEC and two ECs was to iron out differences over electoral reforms.



Dec 18: 335 new COVID-19 cases, 5 deaths in Karnataka
