Mangaluru's Dr. Manjeshwar Shrinath Baliga listed in World Rankings of Top 2% scientists

Mangaluru: Dr. Manjeshwar Shrinath Baliga, Senior Radiobiologist and in charge of Research at Mangalore Institute of Oncology, has featured in the ‘World Rankings of  Top 2% in a study conducted by Stanford University, USA and published in the journal Public Library of Science (PLoS) Biology. With a score of 3.58, Dr. Baliga is in the top 1.38% in the world; seventh in India, and first in the state of Karnataka in the field of Oncology & Carcinogenesis. The US-based Stanford University created a database of at least 1 lakh top scientists around the world and analyzed information on citations like the H-index, co-authorship, and composite indicator, from SCOPUS data provided by Elsevier for career-long impact by tabulating data from 1960 until the end of May 6, 2020.

 


Karnataka HC grants bail to Kannada actress Sanjjanaa Galrani in drugs case

Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday granted bail to actor Sanjjana Galrani in the Sandalwood drugs abuse case. Sanjjana was in custody for three months in relation to the case. The HC on Friday granted bail to the actor on health grounds.

Antoine Griezmann ends Huawei contract over alleged surveillance of Uighurs

Barcelona's World Cup-winning footballer Antoine Griezmann said Thursday he was ending a commercial deal with Huawei over reports the Chinese telecoms giant was involved in the surveillance of Uighur Muslims. Frenchman Griezmann said on Instagram that following "strong suspicions that Huawei has contributed to the development of a 'Uighurs alert' through the use of facial recognition software, I am immediately ending my partnership with the company." He called on Huawei to "not just deny these accusations but to take concrete action as quickly as possible to condemn this mass repression... and to use its influence to contribute to the respect of human rights".
