Udupi: Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti Ambedkar Vad District General Convener Manjunath Gilliyaru has criticized former minister Pramod Madhwaraj and former MLA Raghupathi Bhat for exposing their regressive mentality by justifying the heinous act of tying a Dalit woman to a tree and assaulting her in Malpe.

Malpe, March 22: A suo motu case has been registered at the Malpe Police Station against former Karnataka minister Pramod Madhwaraj for allegedly making provocative and inflammatory statements during a protest meeting in Malpe. The gathering was organized by the Malpe Fishermen's Association in response to the recent incident where a woman was tied to a tree and assaulted at Malpe port.

In an incident reported from Belalu village of the taluk, people travelling on the stretch connecting Kodolukere and Mundrottu of the village on Saturday found a four-month-old female infant lying beside the road.

Mangaluru: Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agarwal directed the traffic police to identify and take action against the misuse of fake media identity cards and stickers on vehicles.

Malpe: The Dalit woman who was accused of stealing fish at the Malpe port and assaulted recently has expressed a disinterest in working any further at the port, admitting that it would be difficult for her to work there.

Udupi: Two more women have been arrested in connection with the assault on a Dalit woman who was tied to a tree and beaten on charges of stealing fish at Malpe port on Tuesday morning.

Mangaluru (Karnataka): An 18-year-old engineering student was allegedly assaulted by a group of five individuals, including the owner of a boys' PG (paying guest) accommodation here, police said on Thursday.
