Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil on Wednesday morning distributed compensation cheques of Rs. 5 lakh each to the families of two deceased people who died from severe rains in the city.

Bengaluru: Chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Wednesday said all possible assistance will be provided to the district administrations to tide over the crisis. The administration will provide suitable assistance to people affected by the rains lashing since Tuesday, he said.

All exams of undergraduate and postgraduate courses of the Mangaluru University to be held on May 30 were postponed for inevitable reasons.

Saying that compensation would be given shortly to the family members of Mohini who died when the compound wall collapsed here on Tuesday, MLA UT Khader said that he has already directed the officials concerned to give compensation to the houses damaged in the rain within a week.
