Banu Mushtaq’s Kannada short story collection on International Booker Prize longlist

London: Karnataka-based writer, activist and lawyer Banu Mushtaq’s short story collection ‘Heart Lamp’, translated from Kannada to English by Deepa Bhasthi, was on Tuesday longlisted for the International Booker Prize 2025 in London.

 


Renowned Bangladeshi filmmaker Zahidur Rahim Anjan dies at 61

Award-winning Bangladeshi filmmaker Zahidur Rahim Anjan, best known for his critically acclaimed film Meghmallar, passed away at the age of 61 on Monday night. He died while undergoing treatment for liver disease at a hospital in Bengaluru, India, filmmaker Akram Khan confirmed.

For the first time in history, a US-based organization has formally requested the International Criminal Court (ICC) to investigate a former US president for potential complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity.
