Three killed, three injured as building collapses in Jharkhand's Deoghar
Deoghar (Jharkhand) (PTI): At least three persons were killed and three others were injured after being buried under the debris of a two-storey building that collapsed in Jharkhand's Deoghar district on Sunday, officials said.
A rescue operation was underway as a few others were feared trapped under the debris of the building that collapsed in Deoghar town around 6 am.
"As many as six persons were retrieved from under the debris and brought to the Sadar Hospital here. Of them, two were brought dead. Another woman succumbed to the injuries. The treatment of the three others, including a child, is underway," Deoghar Civil Surgeon Ranjan Sinha told PTI.
A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has been deployed for the rescue operation.
Deoghar Sub-divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Ritvik Srivastava told PTI, "A few more seem to be still trapped under the debris. The rescue operation is underway."
NDRF Inspector Randhir Kumar, who is leading the operation, said that efforts are underway to retrieve the trapped persons.

Padma Shri awardee Baiga tribal artist Jodhaiya Bai passes away
Bhopal, Dec 16: Madhya Pradesh's famous Baiga tribal artist Jodhaiya Bai, a Padma Shri recipient, died in Umaria district after a prolonged illness, sources said on Monday.
She was 86.
The painter, who was instrumental in getting international recognition to the Baiga tribal art, passed away at her native Lodha village in Umaria district on Sunday, the sources said.
Jodhaiya Bai received Padma Shri, the country's fourth highest civilian award, in 2023 for her special contribution in the field of arts.
Her last rites were held at the Lodha village on Monday in the presence of district collector Dharnendra Kumar Jain, Superintendent of Police Nivedita Naidu, other officials and political leaders.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav expressed grief over her demise.
"Along with Madhya Pradesh, the country also lost an artist who spent her entire life to provide recognition to paintings based on the tribal culture, art and traditions in the country and abroad," Yadav said in a post on X.
