Win for greens: MP govt junks Bhopal housing plan proposal that envisaged massive tree felling

The Madhya Pradesh government on Monday rejected a proposal floated under the New Bhopal "re-densification" plan which may have led to cutting of more than 27,000 trees in the state capital, citing environmental conservation, a decision coming amid protests by local residents and green activists.


Waikar OTP Case: Returning officer says 'EVM non-programmable'

Vandana Suryavanshi, Returning officer of the Mumbai North West constituency, stated that OTP was not used for the purpose of unlocking the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) as it was non-programmable. The machine does not have any wireless or wired communication capabilities, she said. Suryavanshi was addressing the media at the Collector's office in Bandra on Sunday.
