Himachal Assembly passes Bill barring MLAs disqualified under anti-defection law from pension

Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh Assembly on Wednesday passed a Bill which will bar the members of the House who are disqualified under Tenth Schedule of the Constitution (anti-defection law) from drawing pension.

Chandigarh: In an effort to secure a government job, nearly 40,000 graduates and 6,000 postgraduates, and 1.2 lakh candidates who have studied up to class 12 have applied for sweeper positions to clean offices in government departments, corporations and civic bodies in Haryana. This job offers a monthly salary of about Rs 15,000.

80% journalists laid off during during COVID-19 pandemic were ‘forced to resign’: PCI Panel Report

New Delhi: According to a report by the Press Council of India (PCI) examining the effects of retrenchment of journalists during the COVID-19 pandemic, a massive chunk of those laid off were either forced to resign, opt for voluntary retirement, or were terminated from their positions by their news organisations. The report revealed that 80 percent of journalists who testified reported being forced out of their positions, while only 37 percent received severance pay.
