Restrictions were lifted in most areas of Kashmir on Saturday, a day after strict curbs on the movement of people were imposed in the valley in view of the Friday prayers and the proposed march of separatists to the local United Nations military observer group office.

A major fire broke out at two godowns in an industrial area in suburban Goregaon on Saturday morning, a senior official said. Two firemen were injured during the fire-fighting operation, he said.

Five Maoists were killed in a gunfight with security forces in Narayanpur district of Chhattisgarh on Saturday, police said. Two jawans of the District Reserve Guard (DRG) were also injured in the gun-battle, they said.
