Davangere: The murder case of Dayanath Khan of Honnali has taken a new twist with his mother Akhila Banu alleging that her son was murdered by his friends for putting the flag of Ajmeer Dargah in his WhatsApp status.

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, she urged the police department to arrest all the accused who have killed her son. For posting the flag of the Dargah in his WhatsApp status, his friends allegedly assaulted him on June 9.

Later, on June 14 night, they kidnapped Dayanath Khan who was returning home after his work at a garage at 8 pm, and killed him. Police have already arrested Lohith and Hemanth over the murder case. But another five to six persons who were involved in the incident were not yet arrested and the police department has let them off, she said.

Some people have been trying to cover-up the murder case by spreading rumours. All those involved in my son’s murder should be punished and police security should be given to my family as we are facing threat, she demanded.

On June 14 at 8 pm, Dayanath Khan who was on his way home after his work was kidnapped by his friends after throwing chilli powder on his face and killed. Honnalli police who registered a murder case are investigating the case.

Srinagar (PTI): Property worth Rs 1 crore belonging to a notorious drug peddler was on Saturday attached in Jammu and Kashmir's Srinagar, police said.

A double-storey house on eight marlas of land situated at Wantpora Eidgah, belonging to Basit Bilal Dar, a notorious drug peddler, valued at approximately Rs 1 crore, a police spokesperson said.

He said Dar is involved in two cases registered under various sections of the NDPS Act.

During investigation, it was established that the accused had acquired the said property through illicit proceeds generated from drug trafficking activities, the spokesperson said.

Consequently, the property was attached under the provisions of the NDPS Act. The attachment proceedings were conducted in the presence of the two independent witnesses, strictly in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures, he said.

As per the attachment order, the owner has been restrained from selling, leasing, transferring, altering, or creating any third-party interest in the property till further orders, the spokesperson added.
