Injured in JNU attack, student union president Aishe Ghosh named in FIR

New Delhi: Delhi Police in its FIR pertaining to the JNU Violence that broke out on Sunday evening in the university campus and hostel injuring several students and staffs of the university has namned JNUSU President Aishe Ghosh and 19 others for allegedly vandalising the server room of the university on January 4, a day before a mob armed with iron rods and sledgehammers went on a brutal rampage inside the JNU campus.

Mumbai: Author Chetan Bhagat tweeted in support of activists protesting the controversial citizenship law and NRC (National Register of Citizens) today, urging the centre to "put CAA aside... announce NRC won't come... In his tweet Mr Bhagat also advised the government to focus on fighting challenges facing the Indian economy and expressed support for students brutally attacked by masked goons wielding iron rods and sledgehammers at Delhi's JNU last night.

 

SC upholds validity of West Bengal Madrasah Service Commission Act

New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday upheld a law framed by the West Bengal government in 2008 to constitute the Madrasah Service Commission for appointment of teachers in madrasas, saying the selection of teachers and their nomination by the panel was not violative of the rights of minority educational institutions.
