Mangaluru: A case has been registered at the Mangaluru CEN Police Station against lecturer Dr. Arun Ullal, who is accused of delivering a hate speech that allegedly sought to incite discord between communities.

Sullia: An accused under warrant escaped from a hospital during a medical examination in Sullia on Saturday.

Ullal: The dead body of a 44-year-old man, identified to be Prasad, a resident of Kujumagadde in Kolya under Someshwara Town Municipality, who had gone missing from his house since Friday afternoon, was found on Saturday near his house in a well that was unused and also dried up.

A car driver had a narrow escape as he lost control while driving on the National Highway 66 near the Bhatkal Town Municipality and his car entered the Municipality gardens on Friday night. The driver, Muhammad Shahid, however, is learned to have sustained minor injuries in the mishap.

Bantwal: A team of officials from revenue and mining departments raided an illegal sand mining site in the banks of River Nethravati at Thumbe, Maripalla and seized 20 boats on Friday morning.

Udupi (Karnataka): More than one thousand residents at Uppunda in Udupi district fell ill after drinking contaminated water from a local overhead water tank, Health Department officials said on Friday.

The Belthangady Police, with the assistance of locals, intercepted an illegal cattle transport in Malavantige village and arrested four individuals on Thursday night. The police seized two pickup vehicles and five cattle.
