Mangaluru: The Second Additional District and Sessions Court in Mangaluru has rejected the bail petitions of key accused Sachin T. (26) and Manjunath (32) in connection with the murder of Muhammad Ashraf from Wayanad, Kerala.

Udupi: Mahesh Shetty Timarodi, founder president of the Rashtriya Hindu Jagaran Vedike, has been placed under judicial custody in connection with allegations of making offensive remarks against BJP National Organising Secretary B.L. Santosh. Officials said his bail hearing is scheduled for August 23.

Prohibitory orders have been imposed around Brahmavar Police Station in Udupi, where Mahesh Shetty Timarodi was summoned for questioning on Thursday. Police said the measure was taken to ensure law and order during the inquiry.
