One person electrocuted and ten others sustained burn injuries when they came in contact with live high tension electric wire which was snapped, at Maravur on the outskirts of the city on Wednesday.

Four children were rescued in an inspection conducted by Labour Department, Children Safety Unit and Police department from a jewellery making unit in the city on Wednesday.  

Karkala police arrested an accused who killed a single woman Florine Machado of Ayyappa Nagar in Kukkundur village, by slitting her throat, at Panvel railway station in Mumbai.

The arrested accused is identified as Mohammed Riyaz (33) of Hosmaru of Edu village in the taluk.

Total ten passengers sustained injuries when two private buses collided head-on near Beluvai Mutt tank on Tuesday afternoon. All the injured were admitted to a private hospital in Karkala.

Following high tidal waves in the sea, sea erosion was intensified at Tenka Ermalu, Kaipunjali in Kaup, near UPCL pipeline at Ermalu Tenka and near Baada Bhajan Mandir on Tuesday. As a result, the waves were reaching the roads.
