Heavy rains: Schools in Belthangady taluk declared holiday

Tahsildar Madan today announced that all schools in Belthangady Taluk have been declared holiday due to heavy rains.

Heavy rain lashed the taluk on Thursday, and the Meteorological Department has forecasted that the rainfall will continue on Friday as well.  Following which schools across the taluk have been declared the holiday.

The last rites of Lakshmivara Tirtha Swamiji of Shiroor Mutt were held at the Shiroor Moola Mutt near Hiriyadka on Thursday evening as per the Hindu rituals.

“Shiroor Swamiji had come out of the Puritanism. He was loving the poor without considering their castes. I suspect he might have faced this problem because of this reason. So, the government and the district administration should intervene in the issue and order a high level probe into the death of the swamiji”, said Esha Vittala Swamiji of Kemaru Sandipani Ashram.
