Some states did not reduce local taxes on petrol, diesel despite Centre's excise duty cut: PM Modi

Coming down hard on Opposition-ruled states, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said some states did not reduce VAT on petrol and diesel despite the excise duty cut by the Centre last November and had done "injustice" to the people by not transferring the benefits of the move to them.


Section 144 imposed to prevent 'Hindu Mahapanchayat' in U'khand's Dada Jalalpur, 33 detained

 Prohibitory orders under CRPC section 144 have been enforced in Dada Jalalpur village near Uttarakhand's Roorkee where a 'Hindu Mahapanchayat' was scheduled to be held on Wednesday and 33 people associated with the event have been detained, officials said.
