St Joseph Engineering College Conferred Autonomy

St Joseph Engineering College (SJEC), Mangaluru, has been conferred Fresh Autonomous Status with effect from the Academic Year 2021-22. The college was granted autonomy by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under the UGC Scheme for Autonomous Colleges 2018 in response to its application of November 2019. Recently, Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belagavi, notified autonomy for nine years starting from the coming academic year.


All shops opened in Dakshina Kannada District: Only government buses begin operations

In the background of the District Administration’s approval to the business owners in the district to carry out work operations from 7 am to 2 pm, various shops and businesses in the district -which had stopped doing business, owing to the lockdown and Covid curfew for the past two months - have once again begun operating, thereby resuming business activities in the district on Wednesday.

Mangaluru: Senior Congress leader and former MLC Ivan D'Souza on Tuesday urged the Dakshina Kannada administration to relax lockdown rules throughout the day in the district in the wake of declining Covid numbers.

Mangaluru: In a shocking incident that occurred on Monday night, a father poured petrol on his son and lit him on fire following an argument over tying their domestically owned cattle outside their residence in Mangaluru’s Jeppina Mogaru.
