Bengaluru: In the aftermath of the suicide of Santosh Patil, a contractor who alleged harassment by BJP Minister Eshwarappa and blamed him for his death in the suicide note, the state Contractor`s Association on Wednesday accused the BJP of indulging in rowdyism and threatened to halt all government-contracted work for one month starting May 25.

Amid mounting opposition pressure for his resignation over the death of a civil contractor, senior Karnataka Minister K S Eshwarappa on Wednesday ruled out stepping down from his post, as he wondered if a Whatsapp message can be treated as a "death note."

Concerning the death of contractor Santhosh Patil, a relative of the deceased Prashanth Gowdappa Patil, a resident of Belagavi has reportedly registered a case against Minister K. S. Eeshwarappa and two close aides identified as Basavaraj and Ramesh under section: 306 Rw 34 IPC at the Udupi police station on during the early hours on April 13, Wednesday.

Bengaluru: The death of a contractor who levelled corruption charges against a Karnataka Minister erupted into a major political row on Tuesday with the opposition Congress calling for the resignation or dismissal of the Minister concerned while the party's top leader Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and state Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai over the matter.

The opposition Congress in Karnataka on Tuesday demanded the arrest of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister K S Eshwarappa and his dismissal from the Cabinet following the death of a civil works contractor who had accused him of demanding 40 per cent commission on a contract.
