Bengaluru: Senior BJP leader and Union Minister Ananth Kumar, who died today due to illness, was a prominent RSS leader, who was known as Bengaluru's 'most beloved' MP. He was also the first to speak in Kannada in the United Nations.

Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy Monday expressed grief over the death of Union Minister Ananth Kumar, describing him as a "value based" politician who made significant contribution to the country as a parliamentarian and an union minister.

The last rites of Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, who passed away here Monday, would be performed on Tuesday afternoon, Karnataka BJP said.
