The Election Commission has informed that the elections to Urban Local Bodies in Kushalnagar, Somwarpete, and Virajpete in the district have been postponed in the wake of rain-flood across Kodagu district.

Heavy rain leading to landslides and flooding continued to lash Karnataka's Kodagu district, Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy said on Saturday.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy would visit the flood affected and rain-hit Kodagu district on Saturday and review the relief measures.

As a gesture at a time of critical situation, BBMP Mayor and the Commissioner have announced that the Palike would give one month salary of the corporators and one day salary of its officers and employees (approximately Rs 1.25 crore) to take up relief measures and provide assistance in rain hit districts like Kodagu, Dakshina Kannada and other places.

The state government has opened 20 gruel centres in Madikeri, Somawarpete and Virajpete taluks for the rain-affected people in the Kodagu district.
