Relief operations were in full swing in Karnataka's flood-hit Kodagu district as rains abated and life limped back to normal, an official said on Tuesday.

The state government is said to be decided to bring in a law making it mandatory for the elected representatives and government employees to admit their children to the government schools. A decision to this effect would be taken shortly, it is said.

In the present academic year, more than 30 engineering colleges in the state have got zero admissions into engineering courses under Comed-K entrance test.

Davangere: ACB officials today conducted a raid on the house of an FDA Officer of Drinking Water and Sanitation department and on the home of DCC Bank Assistant Manager.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi who announced Rs 500 crore to Kerala, should give at least Rs 100 crore in the first phase to Kodagu district to take up relief works.

Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy said that the natural disaster has literally devastated the Kodagu district where 12 persons were died and 845 houses were completely damaged in the floods and landslides.

Deputy Chief Minister Dr G Parameshwar said that the state government has decided to construct prefabricated houses for those who lost their houses in the flood, landsliding and rains in Kodagu district.

Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Dr G Parameshwar on Monday visited the relief camps here and consoled the distressed people and promise of help.
